Apple/Pear Cinnamon Crepes

Making crepes has always been very easy for me; just mix up the ingredients without any accurate measurements and they always turn out perfect.  But the last time I decided to make crepes, I had to make a few trials before I could make them nice and thin.  Even my batter was too thick and that’s all because I kind of abandoned crepes ever since I started making pancakes.

Well now I have to make it a must to make crepes every now and then.  These are too good to be forgotten!   I got the idea of using apple or pear in crepes while watching one of the cooking shows on TV and obviously cinnamon adds a unique touch to it.  🙂  If you don’t like cinnamon, you can substitute it with nutmeg or just leave it out.

  • 1 cup all purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • pinch of salt
  • 3 tbs sugar
  • 1 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 tbs melted butter
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 small apple or pear

  • Adjust the sugar according to your taste.
  • The recipe above is eggless but you may add in 1 beaten egg to the batter.
  • If you find the batter too thick for crepes then just add in some more milk.
  • I know the title say cinnamon crepes, but if you don’t like cinnamon you can leave it out or substitute with nutmeg.  🙂
  • The apple or pear can be grated with or without the skin, that’s up to you.  I usually don’t find it necessary to remove the skin.  Also you may not add the whole fruit depending on its size.

  1. In a medium bowl, mix together flour, baking powder, salt, sugar and cinnamon powder.
  2. Make a well in the centre and pour in the milk while stirring with a whisk to avoid making lumps.  If you want you may add in 1 beaten egg along with the milk.
  3. Another way of preparing this is to put the ingredients in your blender and blend until smooth.
  4. Add in the melted butter, vanilla extract and finely grated apple or pear and mix well.  You may add some milk if you find the batter too thick.
  5. Warm a skillet over medium heat.  Coat it with a small amount of vegetable oil and pour in about 3 – 4 tbs of crepe batter.  Swirl the skillet and spread out the batter thinly.  Cook on both sides until golden brown.  Repeat with the remaining batter.

Serve warm along with a hot cup of tea or coffee!  🙂
